100th monkey

By Bernie Wimbush

What is the tipping point for the corrupt Church of Scientology?

At what stage will there be a major shift — or has that already occurred?

I found the below article so pertinent to the existing situation, even though it was written several decades ago, and is regarding nuclear war.

Please do read it as I would be really interested to hear your views….

Excerpt from “The Hundredth Monkey” by Ken Keyes, Jr, VISION BOOKS 9th printing First edition January 1982 (no copyright).

There is a phenomenon I’d like to tell you about. In it may lie our only hope for the future of our species! Here is the story of the Hundredth Monkey:

The Japanese monkey, Macaca fuscata, has been observed in the wild for a period of over 30 years.

In 1952, on the island of Koshima scientists were providing monkeys with sweet potatoes dropped in the sand. The monkeys liked the taste of the raw sweet potatoes, but they found the dirt unpleasant.

An 18-month-old female named Imo found she could solve the problem by washing the potatoes in a nearby stream. She taught this trick to her mother. Her playmates also learned this new way and they taught their mothers, too.

This cultural innovation was gradually picked up by various monkeys before the eyes of the scientists. Between 1952 and 1958, all the young monkeys learned to wash the sandy sweet potatoes to make them more palatable. Only the adults who imitated their children this social improvement. Other adults kept eating the dirty sweet potatoes.

Then something startling took place. In the autumn of 1958, a certain number of Koshima monkeys were washing sweet potatoes — the exact number is not known. Let us supposed that when the sun rose one morning there were 99 monkeys on Koshima Island who had learned to wash their sweet potatoes. Let’s further suppose that later that morning, the hundredth monkey learned to wash potatoes. THEN IT HAPPENED!  By that evening almost everyone in the tribe was washing sweet potatoes before eating them.  The added energy of this hundredth monkey somehow created an ideological breakthrough!

But notice. A most surprising things observed by these scientists was that the habit of washing sweet potatoes jumped over the sea. Colonies of monkeys on other islands and the mainland troop of monkeys at Takasakiyama began washing their sweet potatoes!  Thus, when a certain critical number achieves an awareness, this new awareness may be communicated from mind to mind.

Although the exact number may vary, the Hundredth Monkey Phenomenon means that when only a limited number of people know the new way, it may remain the consciousness property of these people.

But there is a point at which if only one more person tunes-in to a new awareness, a field is strengthened so that this awareness is picked up by almost everyone!

Your awareness is needed in saving the world from nuclear war. You may be the “Hundredth Monkey”/

You may furnish the added consciousness energy to create the shared awareness of the urgent necessity to rapidly achieve a nuclear-free world.

  1. Very interesting.

I was just noting yesterday that there are only 25 places left on the Indie 500 list. When Steve Hall created that list, he calculated that the tipping point for the church would arrive when 500 people had added their names.

Given that not every Independent Scientologist chooses to do so, indicates that every name there represents an unknown multiple of emancipated, reawakened souls.

It’s going to be interesting to watch the change inside the cult when that list gets the 500th Independent.

  2. I am not familiar with the list, but I am aware that a large number are “under the radar” and keeping a foot in each camp. In yachting circles it is seen as dangerous to have a foot on the yacht and the other on the dingy. It will move and it is so funny to watch.
I guess when more realise that freedom is not about beg safe, that list will grow and…
It will happen. DM is on the wrong side of history.

  3. Great analogy, wonderful history. Thanks, Bernie. I will be filling in one of those 25 spots soon. I have enlightened all but one of my family on the current scene with CofS (all are Scn). I began the handling on the last person this past weekend. She’s a bit of a tough nut, but I believe she will come around. I’m taking ’em all with me. So heck, we may fill out 5 of those spots.

  4. Here’s a tip on handling ‘tough nuts”. Get into com and try to understand how it is for tem. No eval, or inval. Good no emotion TR0 and no make wrong. Questions like “How does tat make sense?” Get her to convince you that she is right.
